DESTINATION SAN DIEGO
SAN DIEGO COUNTY is home to a diverse array of industries and institutions from biotech, pharma, manufacturing, shipbuilding, and military, to research and education. In addition to being a major international port of entry, San Diego accommodates many of the nation’s fastest growing industries with their unique hazardous materials management challenges. On a daily basis, multiple local agencies must coordinate efforts. Should a significant incident occur, it could potentially involve County Environmental
Health, Sheriff, Police, Fire Department, Port Authority, Life Guard, State and U.S. Fish & Wildlife, U.S. Coast Guard, Navy and Marines.
SAN DIEGO offers an extraordinary opportunity for ACHMM to convene in an area where professionals are seasoned by disaster and experienced in emergency response to wildfires, storm water challenges, proximity to the border, drug traffic, and occupational safety-related factors involving major military bases and construction projects. In sessions, you will hear it all; on tours, you will see it first-hand.
In addition to these singular professional insights, SAN DIEGO provides a wonderful relaxing locale in which to network with colleagues and focus more thoroughly on fresh ideas and important issues, plus – after hours and post-conference – the possibility to slip in some personal recreation!
SAN DIEGO is known for its 70 miles of pristine beaches, dynamic downtown district and gentle climate, called the most nearly perfect climate in America by the U.S. National Weather Service. This perfect climate encourages year-round outdoor activity in a variety of exciting participatory sports (surfing, skating, hiking, biking, golfing), dazzling family attractions (the world-famous San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND®), and spectator sports that with luck might find you seated at a Chargers or Padres game.
